With over 11 year’s in the resources industry, Drake has over 8.5 years engineering experience in open cut coal mines and over 2.5 years engineering consultancy experience in the Newcastle and Hunter Region. 
He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese and is competent in the use of MS Excel and MS Project. Drake has held previous roles at coal mines operated by Rio Tinto, New Hope Group, and most recently has been providing engineering consultancy services to clients in the region with WSP.

Track Record

  • Drake has led various asset management projects at the Bengalla CHPP including implementing upgrades to critical site operation equipment. He was the accountable CHPP asset owner for low and high voltage electrical infrastructure. Drake also successfully implemented safety and business improvement projects at the CHPP
  • As part of the Bengalla Mine’s Water Management Relocation, Drake provided broad site-based project engineering support to construct and commission 4 new dams critical to site water management. He also led the operational readiness for the introduction of new water management assets to the site
  • Drake was the Electrical Engineer at Bengalla Mine responsible for over HME assets across the open-cut mine. He also provided extensive asset management support to the mine that included maintenance regime improvements, managing operating and capital expenditure projects as well as continuous improvement projects
  • He has led equipment lifecycle analysis for control systems equipment including undertaking equipment audits, data analysis and risk management. Drake successfully implemented maintenance upgrade strategies, capital forecast and planning as well as the execution of a new Parts Management Agreement with the vendor
  • As the discipline lead in numerous projects with WSP, Drake completed concept and detailed designs across the Resources and Water Utilities industries. This included process plant modifications, water management upgrades, pump station refurbishments and reservoir refurbishments
