With over 43 years’ experience in the resource sector, John has highly diversified engineering maintenance experience across surface, underground and processing. 
John is often the “go to” person for problems encountered by industry peers, drawing on his vast experience for solutions and recommendations. He is highly experienced and well-rounded across all facets of mining including but not limited to underground coal, surface coal, highwall mining and CHPP operations.

Track Record

  • With engineering and operational roles held at nine surface and six underground coal mine operations, John has extensive experience in the development, roll out and continuous improvement of mine maintenance systems
  • John was part of the team that introduced the Addcar Highwall Mining Systems into Australia from the USA. He was involved in all facets of operational readiness for engineering, legislative compliance and operational integration
  • John’s role as Operational Readiness Manager at Addcar Australia necessitated development of an Australian regulatory compliant inspection regime, introduction of maintenance work instructions, warehousing of spares and setting of component repair/overhaul standards from 3rd party providers for the newly introduced highwall mining machine
  • As a Senior Engineer for an equipment contracting company, John developed the strategy for maintaining critical plant and equipment through an industry downturn, reducing maintenance costs whilst maintaining performance. This contributed to the contractor continuing to operate as a successful industry provider
  • He was engaged by a mining client to manage the performance of an OEM during major overhauls of critical underground plant. John was responsible for the management of quality, cost, and time for the repairer to provide the equipment back into service. This included the commercial management of the overhauls including variation management
  • John was appointed as a subject matter expert by an Administrator of a company in Voluntary Administration to advise on the rationalisation assets, contributing to successful continued trading
