With over 15 years of experience in underground and open-pit metalliferous mining, and including more than 7 years in resource consulting, Michael brings a wealth of operation experience and is competent in performing and mentoring all site-based mining engineering roles.

Michael’s experience as a mining consultant has exposed him to every aspect and level of feasibility studies from optimisation, mine design, capital infrastructure design, scheduling, cost modelling and reporting. Michael has strong business acumen and is skilled interacting at all levels of business authority, managing issues, constrains and challenges.

Track Record

  • Michael has conducted detailed mine design, scheduling, cost estimation, financial modelling and feasibility studies, collaborating with Operations or Study Managers to consider innovations, solve problems and address any relevant issues.
  • He was sought after to mentor and train an inexperienced team aiding them with change management and implementing technical standards and procedures across the Drill & Blast and Short-Term Planning department in a technically complex underground mine.
  • Michael was used as a subject matter expert to conduct technical audits on underperforming projects, effectively identifying issues and improving performance.
  • Acted as a key member in developing technical procedures and compliance with WHS procedures for one of the largest mining contractors and has constructed numerous cost DCF Models for different study levels and commodities.
  • Worked with clients to develop an end-of-life mining sequence addressing safety concerns by removing the need for engineering contract through sequencing and improving metal recovery by reducing ore sterilisation.
