• As Chief Mine Planning Engineer at the Styldrift 1 site in South Africa, he led a pre-feasibility study to develop a mechanized ultra-low profile mining method. This innovative approach, which included the integration of advanced mechanized equipment, improved ore extraction, reduced labour requirements and enhanced overall safety.
• Appointed as Chief Mine Planning Engineer, Rudi’s role was to establish a functional mine planning and KPI reporting department and optimize general operations. By the end of his first year, the team successfully delivered the first full budget cycle which included detailed mine designs and schedules for the next five years.
• Rudi was the Lead Mid Term Planning Engineer at Mount Isa Mines Copper Operations. He was tasked with investigating and recommending improvements. By implementing narrower toe spacings, shorter burden spacings and revised Blast timings, he achieved a 15% reduction in oversize reporting draw points, resulting in increased stope throughput and improved overall mining efficiency.
• At Anglo American Platinum and Royal Bafokeng Platinum in South Africa, as Mine Design & Scheduler to Chief Mine Planner, Rudi developed and delivered 13 business plans. The successful delivery of these plans formed the foundation for labour and financial budgets, resource-to-reserve estimation and short-term execution schedules. This achievement is significant as it ensured operational efficiency, financial stability, and strategic alignment of mining activities.
