• During her time at Tomago Aluminium, Samara was responsible for the implementation of site’s WHS and statutory rules, policies and procedures and follow through on all initiatives from EHS Action Plan. She was responsible for the development and implementation of procedures for identifying hazards and assessing and controlling risks are adhered to and actively assist in reducing or managing the risks. She was also the lead facilitator in root cause analysis of level 3 investigations following significant and potentially fatal incidents.
• Samara implement key changes to Fatigue Management Policy in response to key concerns raised by Management and staffs. This process has ensured that she has a strongly development understanding in fatigue management both the physical and psychological impacts and management strategies.
• Samara also led, developed and implemented a Heat Stress Management policy for Tomago Aluminium. This involved introducing body temperature testing during the summer months avoiding employees being exposed to lengthy appointments in extreme temperatures.
• BHP saw Samara as their shutdown logistics coordinator, overseeing and ensuring up to 4,000 contractors had all successfully completed their inductions and fit testing prior to commencement on site. She has provided training and mentoring to Shift Coordinators on a regular basis.
• At Coal Services, Samara effectively managed a case load of injury workers cases, assist the worker and employer with the claim process and providing support in the completion of relevant documents to ensure timely access to required services to support return to work and injury recovery.
