With 44 years of leadership experience in the Australian resources Industry, John has strong depth and breadth of experience in management, operational, technical, project management and statutory roles. He is highly experienced in engineering and mining at surface, underground and coal preparation plants. His strengths are applying root cause analysis and delivering solutions that are practical, cost effective and deliver value. He has a proven record with continuous improvement and cost out programs.

John's Track Record

John's most recent experience at Stanmore Coal was as the Underground Project Manager where he led a bankable feasibility study for the Isaac Plains underground mine. He also led due diligence studies on 3 other underground mine projects whilst at Stanmore. John also developed and conducted a review of Asset Management (AM) for the dragline, infrastructure and CHPP.

As the General Manager of the Oaky Creek Complex, he oversaw the annual life of mine plans and budgeting and was responsible for the strategic planning for this business. He led a number of safety, cost reduction and productivity programs which delivered significant results.

As the General Manager Engineering for Glencore Coal Queensland, he was responsible for leading process improvement and development of fit for purpose engineering designs, standards and reliability processes. Other duties included budget approval and cultural change for engineering personnel. John was also the lead with a number of investigations, including two major fires on excavators.

As the Production Manager at Newlands Underground operation he was responsible for developing and achieving safety and production targets.

John developed an asset management system when he was the Group Reliability Manager for Xstrata Coal Queensland. John also developed technical scopes of work for the selection of new and overhauled equipment.

As the Engineering Manager at Mandalong, Beltana and South Bulga Collieries he developed and implemented the asset management systems. He was also the engineering project manager for the construction of each of these mines.
