With 16 years of leadership experience in the Resources Industry in operational, technical and commercial roles, Rhys brings a breadth and depth of experience to Resource Industry Performance consulting.

His strength is a deep understanding of the mining value chain which he draws from to challenge or validate underlying client assumptions regarding their business model. Rhys' focus is on delivering quantifiable results and value outcomes which lead to revenue improvement and cost reductions to a client’s operation.

Rhys' Track Record

At Palaris, Rhys has led Asset Performance Projects for Broadmeadow and Narrabri North. He has also led Financial Due Diligence teams on Metals and Coal Projects, completed Risk and Loss Projects and developed Palaris consulting products.

Prior to joining Palaris, Rhys had over 15 years of leadership experience in the mining industry in operational and technical roles for Xstrata, Anglo American and Wollongong Coal (Jindal Steel and Power subsidiary).

Rhys lead a two longwall operation complex in NSW including $250M Revenue, 600+ employees, project managing the development of a new longwall mining operation in the Illawarra and leading the restart of a mothballed underground coking coal operation.

Rhys developed a detailed 25 Year 250Mt mining strategy for Wollongong Coal including identification and scheduling of an additional 100Mt of Resources identified through a structured resource review of historic drilling databases. The strategy comprised of A$27B revenues and A$2.5B capex over a 30 year period.

Over 15 years Rhys has had numerous operational roles including Operations Manager, Mine Manager and Longwall Superintendent.
