Ben brings to the table a unique blend of commercial knowledge and experience balanced with a deep technical mining background.

He has 20 years of experience in the resources industry across a variety of operational and project roles through the full mining life cycle, including close to 15 years in C-suite executive level and Director roles. He has significant study management experience in various commodities, including port developments, along with strong understanding of geology, mining, minerals processing, logistics, infrastructure, and product marketing. Ben also has expertise in due diligence and evaluation for acquisitions of production and pre-production assets across a range of commodities.

Track Record

  • Ben has a breadth of experience across due diligence, construction, and loan monitoring on producing and greenfield assets globally across the globe for international banks, equity funds and mining companies in a wide range of commodities (precious metals, base metals, speciality metals, industrials, and bulk commodities).
  • He was the former Managing Director ASX listed Centrex Metals Limited, responsible for marketing, commercial and technical negotiations for 3 Chinese backed mining joint ventures worth over $300 million, plus transitioning Centrex out of iron ore into fertilisers.
  • Previously Ben was the Chief Operating Officer Eyre Iron, majority owned by a Chinese Steel Major, directly managing a large multi-national team and a $75 million study budget over a period of three years for the development of several iron ore projects.
  • He also brings business improvement capability to projects as he was a specialist in this area during much of his time with BHP Billiton (Black Belt Six Sigma) working across full supply chains in bulk commodities.
  • Ben has also been the owners study manager across bulk commodity, base metals, and fertiliser developments with strong understanding of mining, minerals processing, logistics, infrastructure, and marketing.
  • With strong operational experience and exposure to open-cut mines, underground coal mines, rail, ports, process plants (Australia, China, Africa, Middle East), maintenance, steel mills (Australia, China, Southeast Asia), and fertiliser manufacturing plants (New Zealand, South Korea), Ben’s breadth and depth of experience is significant.
