Jay has over 12 years of experience in electrical engineering, control systems, instrumentation, hazardous area classification engineering and project management.

He has significant experience overseas and within the Australian mining, power, water, and infrastructure industries. Jay has held prior electrical and control roles with a global engineering house and an automation engineering specialist. He has been involved across a broad range of diverse assets in varying industries from concept design through to delivery, providing broad insight into engineering solutions. Jay specialises in electrical low voltage and Instrumentation. He is also a certified hazardous area assessor and trained in machine functional safety engineering.

  • Jay was an electrical & controls engineer for a global engineering consultant firm, where he managed mining, energy, infrastructure, and control system projects. He showcased exemplary project management skills from concept to delivery overseeing the technical, commercial and management aspects of the project.
  • Jay has experience in conducting third party electrical engineering design reviews for clients such as for Glencore, EDL Energy and South32. He also possesses expertise in electrical compliance auditing with respect to AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZ 60079.
  • As a Hazardous area engineering practitioner, he has performed numerous hazardous area classification, verification and equipment selection reviews for various mining and energy clients.
  • Jay possesses extensive knowledge and experience in attending various risk assessment such as HAZOP, CHAZOP, SID, BBRA, WRAC’s, BOWTIES, and developing critical controls. He is also a machine functional safety practitioner and involved in functional safety assessments and LOPA.
  • He was a member of a major projects group for a utility client where he represented as Owner’s engineer. He was instrumental in developing the design, selection of instruments, procurement, managing contractors and subcontractor of multiple projects.
  • Jay is also competent in engineering tools such as PowerCAD, HAZCALC, SKM PTW and provides specialist electrical support for the clients. He has also experience in reviewing EECP, developing standards and proficient in technical reporting.
