Steve is a Minerals Engineer with a Masters’ in Project Management. He has over 34 years’ experience in the development and execution of studies and projects within the mining industry.

He has been responsible for the execution of projects from conception through to construction and handover. Steve has experience within owner and consultant organisations from junior miners to major corporations, undertaking projects through the complete life cycle.

Track Record

  • Prior to joining Palaris Steve held roles of Operations Director and Senior Study Manager with global EPCM provider Wood, including as Project Manager for studies, including the FEED and detailed design of a process plant and infrastructure for a 54Mtpa magnetite concentrator in Uzbekistan.
  • Was General Manager Projects for ASX Listed Centrex Metals, responsible for the execution of the company’s projects from conception through to construction and handover, specifically the Ardmore Phosphate project in Australia.
  • Senior Project Manager for WorleyParsons including managing feasibility studies for Chilean and Australian magnetite mines and for expansion to the Cannington lead-zinc-silver mine.
  • Manager Projects for Minara Resources tasked with building, managing and leading a site-based projects team for the execution of sustaining capital works and major projects and shutdowns at the Murrin Murrin Nickel refinery. Over 4 years, the team delivered +$400M in capital works crucial for the improvement of the operation and in support of a major shutdown completely refurbishing the acid plant and H2S plant.
  • Pre-commissioning manager for a portfolio of projects associated with the expansion of the Yanacocha gold mine in Northern Peru. Managed a team of multi-disciplined engineers and technicians in pre-commissioning a range of facilities across the mine site ensuring that the systems were handed across to operations in a condition suitable for start-up.  portfolio included a wide range of systems from heap leach pads, process, plant, infrastructure, water treatment and environmental management in a challenging environment at high altitude.
