Battery Vehicles Charging Industry Infrastructure Review

Introduction

Engaged by ACARP industry research body to consider how mine can safely and effectively implement charging infrastructure into mine electrical systems for battery mining vehicles

Mandate

OEMs are releasing battery vehicles and chargers however, the mines are not yet prepared to safely and effectively operate these new vehicles. A mining industry research body has engaged Palaris to analyse required charging infrastructure and develop an industry wide specification for charging infrastructure including the charging of multiple vehicles. This Project also includes assessment of the future integration of charging equipment into existing mine electrical infrastructure.

Approach

Palaris is currently benchmarking all existing underground mine sites diesel fleets to develop a geographical utilisation model. Based on how equipment is being used, Palaris will develop the optimal arrangements for future charging infrastructure which suppliers can use for standardisation.

Outcome

The project is ongoing and 2 detailed case studies are being completed to demonstrate how charging infrastructure can be safely and effectively installed and used.
